Peter Gawel developed an interest in photography after taking an
introductory course in the Design Studies Program, at Grant MacEwan
University. Discovering a hidden talent, his career path
changed and he majored in Photography.
Peter expanded his experience by taking photographs for Rexal
Place, YTV/CMT, music festivals, fashion magazines, and more.
He also assisted renowned commercial photographer, Curtis Trent.
Peter and Megan subsequently interned with Montreal photographer,
Ron Levine. Peter has won several awards, including first prize for
portraits.
Recently Peter started teaching photography through the CPLC at
Kings University and has upcoming goals of publishing his first
photography book.
Prior to opening Studios Photography, Peter was a competitive
gymnast and has continued coaching at Phoenix Gymnastics Club. He
also played bass guitar in a local rock band, was a
professional Illusionist/Magician and also has circus training,
which he specialized in trapeze. Peter also enjoys riding his
Harley to scout for new photographic locations.

Megan was brought up in a family that loved photography. With
her Dad, an Emmy Award winning Director of Photography working in
the film industry, Megan was always hanging around movie and
commercial sets. Choosing photography as a career just became a
natural choice. At Harry Ainlay High School, Megan was the
recipient of the Communication Technology 30 Award. She also
received the People's Choice Award at the Hot Shots Film Festival
for an AADAC Tobacco Free Ad she produced. Megan also took on
the challenge as Graduation Picture Director that same year.
In 2006, Megan graduated from High School and enrolled in
the Design Studies program at Grant MacEwan University, majoring in
Photography. Her internship was in Montreal with well-known
photographer Ron Levine.
While attending Grant MacEwan, Megan met Peter and together they
took on the challenge of photographing their very first wedding.
After that they knew they were a perfect team and started Piotr
& Megan Photography. Four great years went by and their
portfolio grew tremendously. Since then they have gone on to win
numerous Awards. Their work has been showcased in Magazines,
Newspapers, Billboards and on Displays around
Edmonton.BlushMagazine rated them as one of the top 5 Vendors at
the Bridal Expo in Edmonton! Recently, they achieved their
goal of opening a studio on the southside of Edmonton. They
also changed their name to "Studios Photography."
Megan's favorite things to photograph are weddings (local and
destination), engagement photos and family photos. When Megan isn't
taking pictures you can find her in a yoga classroom, walking her
pug "Tobi", or planning the next travel adventure.

Greg Hawthorn's passion for photography started at a very young
age He received his first 35mm SLR camera at age 14 and started
taking courses in photography. Entering into apprenticeship with a
few studios in Edmonton, Greg refined his skills to become an
excellent photographer. He became a lead photographer and developed
effective marketing skills. Greg then left the industry to work in
marketing and promotions.
At the opportunity to return to photography and work with Peter,
he jumped at the chance. Greg brings his skills as a photographer,
marketing abilities and outgoing personality to Studios
Photography.
When Greg is not taking photos he spends his time on a
volleyball court as an official, playing guitar, or relaxing at
home with his wife Kiersten and their chocolate lab Thor.
